Brief History of the party
The PPA can be described as a child of necessity. The party was born in response to the challenge of party formation in the run up to the 2007 general elections. It was a valiant attempt to challenge the hegemonic tendencies of former president Olusegun Obasanjo and his ruling PDP. President Obasanjo had perfected plans to perpetuate himself in office through a constitutional amendment that would have allowed him to run for a third term in office.
